Indeed, this is one of our preferred destinations when not birding in Tarifa.<\/p>\n<p>In early April we have been pleased to design and guide a tailor made birding trip combining Tenerife (3 days) and\u00a0Fuerteventura (4 days) with an evident target: observing and photographing\u00a0 the local endemics and specialities. We have beautifully meet all our targets, including some bonus in the form of 5 striking Red-billed Tropicbirds off Fuerteventura!<\/p>\n<p>This is a selection of our best shots:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1924\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1924\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1924\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_3476.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1924\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Houbara Bustard (ssp. fuerteventurae) in the astonishing planes of Tindaya , Fuerteventura.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1922\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1922\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1922\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_3002-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1922\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Blue Chaffinch (Fringilla teydea) is now considered a full species and has been splitted from the Gran Canaria Blue Chaffinch (F. polatzeki). These are, no doubt, among the most striking Canarian endemics.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1923\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1923\" style=\"width: 667px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1923\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_3013-683x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"667\" height=\"1000\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1923\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The dark brown chest is the most distinctive character in the Canarian endemic subspecies of the Greatter spotted woodpecker (ssp. Canariensis)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1933\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1933\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1933\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_3964.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"666\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1933\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The taxonomic rank of the Canarian falcons is under debate and many individuals should be considered intergrades between Barbary and Peregrine. The male in the picture, photographed in Fuerteventura, showed all the correct characters of a Barbary Falcon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1925\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1925\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1925\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_3752.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1925\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Fuerteventura Stonechat shows a marked preference for the rocky slopes of the \u201cBarrancos\u201d and, amazingly, is not present in the neighbouring Lanzarote.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1928\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1928\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1928\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_4420.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1928\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photographing Common Ravens is often tricky, except when you meet the inquisitive canariensis subspecies.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1927\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1927\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1927\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_4142-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1927\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Even if not endemic, the Trumpeter Finch is always a joy for the observers and photographers.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1940\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1940\" style=\"width: 1280px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1940 size-full\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_3190.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"854\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1940\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">At times elusive, a displaying pair of Laurel Pigeons in Tenerife was a real highlight in the trip.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1932\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1932\" style=\"width: 1000px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-1932\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/MG_3768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"667\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1932\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Adult &#8220;Fuerteventura&#8221; Buzzard showing obvious resemblance to the Atlas Long-legged Buzzards in Morocco and notably different to average individuals of the insulaum subespecies in Tenerife.
